Well, using a PCMCIA CAM in a PCMCIA slot in a notebook seemed so natural
and obvious to me that I never contemplated that this may not even be
possible.
However, voltage negotiation should work if the CAM is fully compliant and
the host supports it. A compliant CAM should look as Memory-Only device when
inserted into a host slot.

As far as I know this is not possible due to CAM wiring being different
from PCMCIA. At least I get "voltage negotiation failed" when inserting
a a cam into my pcmcia slot.
