Hi,

for 0x1017 you should use latest v4l-dvb driver,
where was this card moved under module "budget-ci"
(instead previous state under module "budget").

with this driver should card works but maybe only
if you not have a CI interface, or have not connected it.

but if you using card with CI interface connected and/or
some very rare errors will be observed in your stream you
can try install v4l-dvb mercurial http://www.linuxtv.org/repo/
and manually edit 3 files as i wrote in my "success report" here:
http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2006-March/008829.html
and recompile/reinstall modified v4l-dvb tree.
and give me feedback if it in case of problems helps
(these changes are not in current dvb-v4l tree and i also
have not feedback from other persons if it this card
with CI interface board need this patch generally).
but in any case - it works for me :-)

Hi Dan.

Yes, it is in fact the S-1500 from TT. It matches the image 100%.
However the device type is 0x1017 and not 0x100c.

The card is sold as a Hauppuage WinTV Novia-ci-s by dvbshop.net.

I tried to modify budget-ci.c to recognize type 0x1017 as a type
0x100c and the driver then load the card. However when I try
tuning the card, the tuner hangs for 6-8 seconds before returning
an error. Maybe the tuner is wrong, but I can't read the damn
small lettrs on the tuner chip.

# dvbtune -c 1 -f 11388000 -p H -s 27500
Using DVB card "ST STV0299 DVB-S"
tuning DVB-S to L-Band:-1209305000, Pol:H Srate=27500000, 22kHz=off
ERROR setting voltage
: Remote I/O error
ERROR setting tone
: Connection timed out
polling....
Getting frontend event
FE_STATUS:

Also measured the signals for the LNB. None are present, so somehow the
voltage for the LNB doesn't gets turned on

Any suggestions ? Anybody who know the exact tuner type ?

Kind regards

Hi,

It seems your card is made by Technotrend (model TT-budget S-1500).
(Technotrend Systemtechnik GmbH: Unknown device 1017)

Have a look at: http://shop.technotrend.de to see if it similar to yours. If this is the card the there was some discussion on this list a while ago.
(starting january this year).

Hi.

I have just bought a couple of new type Hauppauge Nova-ci-s cards from DVBShop, but the cards doesn't seems to get installed. The old device types (100f) does
gets installed, but the new one (device type 1017) is missing. Is there
an easy way to fix that ?

Here are the differences between old (working) boards and the new one

Old:

  PCB boardcolor : orange/brown
  PCB boardname : B2S1100

New
  PCB boardcolor : green
  PCB boardname : B2S2000
  PCB extra text : TT2004.33
  Code on tunercabinet : 19300433

The board has been redesigned and seems to have a new larger LNB-power-chip.
Probably because the older cards dies after been turned on continously
for 6-12 months.

Kind regards
