Thanks for that Patrick it did help :) I'm a complete newb to DVB.

tzap -c /usr/share/dvb/zap/dvb-t/uk-Sandy-Heath BBC-1
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
reading channels from file '/usr/share/dvb/zap/dvb-t/uk-Sandy-Heath'
tuning to 641833334 Hz
video pid 0x0258, audio pid 0x0259
status 20 | signal ffff | snr ffff | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 |

and (after reading Simon Blandford's thread)

tzap -c /usr/share/dvb/zap/dvb-t/uk-Sandy-Heath BBC-1
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
reading channels from file '/usr/share/dvb/zap/dvb-t/uk-Sandy-Heath'
tuning to 642000000 Hz
video pid 0x0258, audio pid 0x0259
status 20 | signal ffff | snr ffff | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 |

however I'm not really expecting a signal as I'm using the crappy little ariel
that came with it at the moment. What worried me was the error reported by
dmesg:

dvb-usb: recv bulk message failed: -110

I'm going to get a proper ariel tomorrow and wanted to know that there was
only one variable for things working when I set it up ;)

Ron
