Is there any way to receive encrypted channels with the C-1100? It
does not look like there is a card slot.

Ah true enough - if you wanted to use it to receive crypted channels then you'd need to do dodgy stuff like the soft cam. I only used the box for FTA channels because the aerial on our house was too poor for DVB-T reception.
