Here's how I fixed it http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=5339&max_rows=25&style=nested&viewmonth=200508 basically /usr/sbin/lircd --driver=dev/input --device=/dev/input/event3 -p 666 /etc/lircd.conf is the command line you need...substitue event3 for what ever your system has allocated to the IR.
