And that's with the latest v4l-dvb drivers pulled from Mercurial last
night.  We changed the printks to DST_ERROR in write_dst.

We've tracked the problem down to a call in dst_probe:
dst_get_device_id, which calls write_dst, which calls i2c_transfer,
which returns this error: err == -5, len == 0x08, b0 == 0x00.

The Kanotix dmesg looks like this:

What is different about i2c in the Knoppix and Kanotix kernels from
the Ubuntu and FC4 kernels?  Is there some firmware in the card that
needs to be loaded?

Another thing: in FC4 it's doing a dst_probe, but in Kanotix it's
doing a dst_check_ci.  We can't find that routine in bttv 0.9.16.  Is
that a change from 15?
