[linux-dvb] Problem with Skystar2 TV PCI

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi there,
i just bought a TechniSat Skystar2 TV PCI DVB-S card because it seems to
be well supported under Linux. Unfortunately, i can't use the card under
Linux. I use Debian Sarge, Kernel 2.6.11.11p3 on my PC. As soon as try
to set the channel (using szap) i get an error message, that the
frontend could not be accessed. The exact error message from szap is:

./szap -c /home/repplix/pub/channels.conf -n 1
reading channels from file '/home/repplix/pub/channels.conf'
zapping to 1 'Sat.1':
sat 0, frequency = 12480 MHz V, symbolrate 27500000, vpid = 0x06ff, apid
= 0x0700
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
opening frontend failed: No such file or directory

If i enter lsmod, it seems that all required modules can be loaded:
skystar2               28356  0
dvb_core               78536  1 skystar2
mt352                   5636  1 skystar2
stv0299                 9924  1 skystar2
nxt2002                 8900  1 skystar2
mt312                   7876  1 skystar2

But if i start 'dmsg' i found the following error messages:
 kernel: drivers/media/dvb/b2c2/skystar2.c: FlexCopIIB(rev.195) chip found
 kernel: drivers/media/dvb/b2c2/skystar2.c: the chip has 38 hardware filters
 kernel: DVB: registering new adapter (SkyStar2).
 kernel: i2c_readbytes: i2c read error (addr 0a, err == -121)
 kernel: skystar2: A frontend driver was not found for device 13d0/2103
subsystem 13d0/2103

I found a discussion about a similar problem on this list
http://www.linuxtv.org/mailinglists/linux-dvb/2004/12-2004/msg00307.html and
http://www.linuxtv.org/mailinglists/linux-dvb/2004/12-2004/msg00602.html

Here, the solution was to install a patch for kernel 2.6.10. Since i use
2.6.11 this patch should already
be included in this kernel version.

It would be great if somebody can send me suggestions how to solve this
problem.

Best regards
  Michael Repplinger
