I initially messed with all those commands, then as Ben Jackson mentions
above I found kaffeine-0.7CVS would do it all very simply ... the scan
feature presents a list of stations found on the right hand side of the
GUI so you can select whatever you need to appear on the left hand side
and that's your permanent stations list. A nice feature would be to
allow selecting all stations scanned for inclusion, but the extra mouse
work only has to be done once.
Xawtv snapshots from dl.bytesex.org/cvs-snapshots/ configured with the
following does a great job as does klear if looking for just a TV app,
but kaffeine is the swiss army knife multimedia app.
./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-alsa --enable-lirc --enable-zvbi
--enable-mpeg2 --enable-dvb --enable-arts --enable-xfree-ext
--enable-xvideo --enable-mmx --enable-dv --enable-quicktime
Regards
Sid.
