I have the same problem.
My hardware: 2 Hauppauge Nexus-S rev. 2.3; Debian sarge, 2.6.11.7 vanilla

The above error occurs once a week.
My problem is that the picture of one card is ambiguous after the error occured.

-> Driver reload solves the problem for some days
