Hi, can anyone please tell me what modules I need to have loaded to run my WinTV Nova-T TV card? The last time I set it up it seemed to go quite smoothly - but this is a new Debian Unstable install and a new PC - and things aren't going so well this time around. Here are the modules I currently have loaded: raid517@Linux1:~$ lmod bash: lmod: command not found raid517@Linux1:~$ lsmod Module Size Used by pcmcia 30216 0 yenta_socket 23432 0 rsrc_nonstatic 13568 1 yenta_socket pcmcia_core 53400 3 pcmcia,yenta_socket,rsrc_nonstatic lp 12100 0 battery 10244 0 container 4608 0 8250_pnp 8704 0 8250_pci 19072 0 8250 34340 2 8250_pnp,8250_pci serial_core 23424 1 8250 ipt_LOG 7552 1 ipt_limit 2688 4 ipt_state 2048 1 ip_conntrack_ftp 73104 0 ip_conntrack 46232 2 ipt_state,ip_conntrack_ftp iptable_filter 3200 1 ip_tables 22528 4 ipt_LOG,ipt_limit,ipt_state,iptable_filter floppy 61404 0 snd_emu10k1 110596 2 snd_ac97_codec 81912 1 snd_emu10k1 snd_pcm_oss 52768 0 snd_mixer_oss 19584 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_pcm 94344 3 snd_emu10k1,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss snd_seq_dummy 3844 0 snd_seq_oss 35456 0 snd_seq_midi 8992 0 snd_seq_midi_event 8064 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi snd_seq 54928 6 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event ntfs 196624 0 ide_generic 1408 0 [permanent] aec62xx 7552 0 [permanent] trm290 4484 0 [permanent] alim15x3 10892 0 [permanent] hpt34x 5504 0 [permanent] hpt366 20096 0 [permanent] cmd64x 12188 0 [permanent] piix 10500 0 [permanent] rz1000 2816 0 [permanent] slc90e66 5760 0 [permanent] cs5530 4992 0 [permanent] sc1200 7424 0 [permanent] triflex 3840 0 [permanent] atiixp 6288 0 [permanent] pdc202xx_new 9344 0 [permanent] opti621 4612 0 [permanent] ns87415 4040 0 [permanent] cy82c693 4736 0 [permanent] serverworks 9352 0 [permanent] amd64_agp 12744 1 agpgart 36168 1 amd64_agp sata_nv 9348 0 libata 48644 1 sata_nv ohci1394 35892 0 sbp2 24968 0 ieee1394 107064 2 ohci1394,sbp2 sd_mod 16912 0 usb_storage 64800 0 psmouse 31748 0 evdev 9728 0 ide_cd 42116 0 tsdev 8000 0 sr_mod 18724 0 cdrom 41248 2 ide_cd,sr_mod vfat 14208 0 fat 53276 1 vfat loop 18568 0 snd_rawmidi 25888 2 snd_emu10k1,snd_seq_midi snd_seq_device 8972 6 snd_emu10k1,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi snd_timer 25988 3 snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm,snd_seq snd_page_alloc 10244 2 snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm snd_util_mem 4736 1 snd_emu10k1 snd_hwdep 9504 1 snd_emu10k1 snd 57188 15 snd_emu10k1,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device,snd_timer,snd_hwdep i2c_nforce2 6912 0 ohci_hcd 21892 0 ehci_hcd 34952 0 usbcore 123644 4 usb_storage,ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd forcedeth 19456 0 shpchp 101220 0 pci_hotplug 12292 1 shpchp budget_ci 14080 14 tda1004x 14980 1 budget_ci firmware_class 10624 2 pcmcia,budget_ci budget_core 9988 1 budget_ci dvb_core 86568 2 budget_ci,budget_core saa7146 19236 2 budget_ci,budget_core ttpci_eeprom 2944 1 budget_core stv0299 10756 1 budget_ci i2c_core 23056 6 i2c_nforce2,budget_ci,tda1004x,budget_core,ttpci_eeprom,stv0299 emu10k1_gp 3840 0 gameport 16520 2 emu10k1_gp rtc 13496 0 pcspkr 3800 0 parport_pc 41540 1 parport 38088 2 lp,parport_pc ipv6 269504 8 ac 4996 0 thermal 13576 0 processor 22964 1 thermal button 6800 0 fan 4740 0 video 16260 0 raid517@Linux1:~$ And here is the output of lspci: lspci 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e1 (rev a1) 0000:00:01.0 ISA bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e0 (rev a2) 0000:00:01.1 SMBus: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e4 (rev a1) 0000:00:02.0 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e7 (rev a1) 0000:00:02.1 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e7 (rev a1) 0000:00:02.2 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e8 (rev a2) 0000:00:05.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00df (rev a2) 0000:00:08.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e5 (rev a2) 0000:00:09.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00ee (rev a2) 0000:00:0a.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e3 (rev a2) 0000:00:0b.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00e2 (rev a2) 0000:00:0e.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 00ed (rev a2) 0000:00:18.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 NorthBridge 0000:00:18.1 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 NorthBridge 0000:00:18.2 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 NorthBridge 0000:00:18.3 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 NorthBridge 0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 4a49 0000:01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 4a69 0000:02:06.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01) 0000:02:07.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 04) 0000:02:07.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy MIDI/Game port (rev 04) 0000:02:07.2 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Creative Labs SB Audigy FireWire Port (rev 04) 0000:02:0a.0 Modem: Smart Link Ltd.: Unknown device 8800 (rev 02) 0000:02:0c.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): VIA Technologies, Inc. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10) I have no idea where the tda1004x firmware came from as I have not installed that myself - yet - although I'm not sure if I still need to in the new 2.611x kernels. I have a working channels.conf file taken from another working install and I ran MAKEDEV-DVB.sh to make the required devices in /dev and I changed the permission on all of the devices created there to rwx for all - but nonetheless kaffeine/kaxtv and Xine are both complaining that they can't tune the DVB card. Can anyone throw any light on where I might be going wrong? Any input anyone can offer at all would be very much appreciated. GJ
