To me, the Rust book is nowhere near "The C Programming Language" in quality (meaning readability and ability to transfer complex detailed knowledge) and that is a serious problem.
Compared to the Rust Book - which aims to provide a relatively gentle and comprehensive introduction to the language, I think the Rust reference might be more suitable in order to understand the language support for features like Traits: https://doc.rust-lang.org/stable/reference/introduction.html A lot of folks, myself included, convolve the Book with the Reference to get a stronger handle on concepts. This is subjective of course but I felt it worth sharing. Robin
