My encounters with systemd haven't been positive. I have one system now running Debian Sid (Debian 8). Debian has switched to systemd in Sid.
Shutdown time before the switch: ~30 seconds. Shutdown time AFTER the switch: 5 minutes. I guess they're still working on systemd. -- David W.
