anyone using FreeBSD for audio stuff? I've installed latest release as guest os using qemu and just wondering if porting of ardour and other audio stuff has been done by someone else and if it's worth.
They have Ardour. They just dont have Alsa, or a kernel that's any good for realtime. And this is coming from a FreeBSD fan.
alsa is there and compiling a kernel it's not that hard
they don't have a port for ardour3 yet
It's a shame... With the various creations of Lennart Poettering coming from RedHat these days (PulseAudio, systemd, etc.), Linux is getting more wacky by the year. BSD might be a refuge from the madness if they were more desktop oriented.
apt-get purge pulseaudio systemd
apt-get install sysvinit
