What kind of PC is this on? Building a 3.2 kernel from a fully-blown kernel config takes 23:26.67 (/usr/bin/time -f "%E" fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd --revision 0 kernel_image kernel_headers) on my 4 year old desktop PC. Are you using CONCURRENCY_LEVEL or -j with make?
