I like that LA, with all its fractions and diversity, has a central place with this mailinglist (although I think LAU and LAD could be just one line), and one ruling audio standard and transport protocol, JACK. 
That is only possible because of our open source idelogy and its consequence that it is no use to create artificial barriers to invent broken Unique Selling Points like interconnection of a handful of programs. We just get them all.
