I am also planning on putting material up on archive.org. One minor issue I have had with soundcloud is the MP3 encoding introduces artifacts occasionally on material that has quieter passages with instruments in the higher register (like woodwinds). Luckily, if I upload a WAV, it will keep that as the download file while having the lower quality MP3 for playback on the site. archive.org will let me have multiple formats online, including FLAC and OGG.
