Seems this was the Fast Leslie, activated accidentally by
using the sustain pedal. There's definitely something wrong
with it. The slow version works nicely.

FYI. Latest git.
When you hit multiple keys in the high range on (an external) keyboard the sound is crunchy (slow leslie). If you hit one note, it sounds close to a hammond...

So certainly not sounding 100% okish, especially in the high range.
