already off.

i put "regular" in quotes to avoid the implication of "periodic". they
are not periodic, but they happen randomly but with enough frequency
that anyone would notice them. they occur at close to zero system
load.

i tried an RT kernel from CCRMA and it hosed the video driver (nouveau).
