When I import an .ogv to the stage the audio is a stuttering, digital mess.  

My first inclination is to attempt to stop the pulse daemon from running so ALSA can do its thing.

Would this be a step in the right direction?

kdenlive also has jack support iirc. Can you play the ogv with another app like mplayer without sound issues?
