I looked into this some time ago and got a short way into getting it to work with midish. Just tried again, using the comments in that thread, and hit a dead end (probably my dead head!). All I want to do is to play, from a command line, an existing midi file to an external synth and record (at the same time) stuff I'm playing on the synth. This is easy to do in RG and other GUI programs ... can it be that hard to do from a command line? Anyone know of a program to do that? No JACK or virtual synths required.
