Not if one could do what Moldover or other Ableton Live users do with Linux/FLOSS tools. I'd take the Qtractor approach since that's my tool of choice. I admit, it was a bit of a blindly-replying-action as I am a Qtractor afficionado and know close to nothing about Ableton Live, but I did watch the Moldover Youtube vid and based my premature biased judgement on that ;) With the right samples, plugins, time and MIDI bindings I think one can come a long way with Qtractor as a mixer and a looper/sampler (Hydrogen, SooperLooper, Kluppe etc.). But no, it won't be easy, and yes, it will take a lot of time.
