Hello Leonard!
I thought about backing vocals, but I'm not much of a singer. So I left it that way. I thought it would suffice. :-) In any case the words aren't too important, it's 80s. As to humanising the drums: I am human and I DON'T! sequence them, I play everything live. No exception. :-)
  As for the lyrics:
The rain clouds and hail storms
Intermittently interspersed with light.
In blue skies, where the sun warms
It is an every ongoing fight.
-
A thousand souls
Rage in ourselves and the heart of the land
This war won't rest
Until we're decided and we understand...
-
Enemy April fool,
Why do you treat our lives so cruel.
But with the darling buds of May,
Some scent of luck has to stay.
But until
End of April,
It will...
NOT!

Live, not what it used to be...
A time worth spending the days.
But now, nought but woe to see
In ever more darkening ways.
-
A thousand souls...
-
Enemy April fool...

  You get the picture... :-)
Still I thought the drums accentuated, where they should. The "thousand souls' part was very unison - drums included. The instrumental bridge before that was too and the chorus was not too full. The verses were a bit frizzly, but they were intended that way. It was my idea. Still, glad you enjoyed it anyway! Perhaps I'll get to some more complex singng the next time.
  Kindly yours
         Julien
