Hold on, let's get the rusty cogs working.

0dBm = 1mW in 600ohm = .775V
8dB Hmmm off the top of my head thats 6dB+2dB which comes out at x2
then x1.25, so x2.5

Soooo that makes it a 2V signal. Doesn't sound so strange now!
