i use uhj renderings routinely when mixing ambisonics, and it is indeedvery nice (although it sounds slightly "wetter" than when rendered on areal surround rig) for listening enjoyment. it also does have a verywide stereo base, extending past the speakers. sounds quite sensiblewhen a source is panned full circle, but it certainly does not createconvincing rear perception.
but it is totally unsuitable for serious monitoring if you aretargetting planar or 3d surround and need a precise idea of where asource is going.
