to my experience, i confirm (*) when the turntable already generates
audible noise. However, i think the quality of the RIAA preamp is
important when the turntable is good.

(*) though, 15 years ago, i measured cheap sound cards to generate phase
distortion between the 2 channels (and some diaphony, too).
