I have 2 Roland external synths from the Sound Expansion series: M-GS64 (general synth) and the M-OC1 (orchestra synth) MIDI from the Audigy2 ZS internal sound card goes to the synths, then audio from the synths goes to an external mixer, which I then route back to the Audigy2 ZS line in for software recording. Rosegarden 1.5.1 (under Fedora Core 6 and Planet CRRMA) recognizes the MIDI out ports on the Audigy2 ZS card. Under the Composition-> Studio-> Manage MIDI Devices dialog box, I can create the patch/bank lists to have the synths play the desired sample. I have the RGD file done for the M-OC1 synth (except for the 2nd drum bank), but am still working on the M-GS64 synth. Rosegarden 1.5.1 allows 1 drum bank to be entered easily. The M-GS64 has 23 drum banks. I haven't figured out how to get the other 22 drum banks into the RGD file correctly yet. You don't need to go to WineAISO to have Linux control Roland external synths. Rosegarden does the job perfectly. Regards, Stephen.
