I've heard that you can connect them with same tools you use for audio
ports. I personally use svn patchage for this.

I've done some gentoo-ebuilds for lv2, zynjacku, zynadd, ...
If someone want to try this (very experimental) gentoo ebuilds
you could find the ebuilds in the proaudio-overlay at proaudio.tuxfamily.org
