Okay, there are different meanings of a pro:
A) The professional linux-user. For him its no problem to set (orunset) a variable in .profile/.bashrc/.<etc>
B) The professional musician. Probably switching from Windows or Macto Linux. You can explain the dependencies of jack/etc to him and hewill understand it and make use of it. But if it comes tonon-gui-tools and commandline-interfaces and ENV-variables he switchesright back to his old proprietary system...
C) There are certainly many more pro's, but these are the oneson-topic for LA[DU]...
