as always it was *much* simpler. Fluidsynth has a command line switch, 
and even qsynth has preferences where I can select: jack @ 24/48.

I just have connected the output of fluidsynth to jack-rack, loading a 
tremolo and a reverb. Guess what I'll do the next hour ;-) .
