Well, I would guess it would take a little bit of research, and a tad of
engineering...

Maybe because computing power wasn't available at the time?

Now I know perfectly well this is new stuff but think about it...
Mathematically defined tracks, with the formulas DERIVED from a recorded
piece of audio, just like with vectorizing a bitmap...

Now I don't know about you but my mouth is starting to water :)
