Hello, It's more than a week that I'm trying to get off my problem without success, so I ask you for help! I would like to use Jack with alsa on my Ubuntu Hoary 5.04 for AMD64. I downloaded all the alsa and jack packages needed but now I'm stuck, I can't manage to use xmms or ardour with jack. When i launch "jackd -v -R -d alsa -d hw:0 -r 44100 -H -z s" the output is: getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.80.0-0/jack_alsa.so getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.80.0-0/jack_dummy.so getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.80.0-0/jack_oss.so jackd 0.99.0 Copyright 2001-2003 Paul Davis and others. jackd comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions; see the file COPYING for details registered builtin port type 32 bit float mono audio loading driver .. new client: alsa_pcm, id = 1 type 1 @ 0x51d490 fd = -1 apparent rate = 44100 creating alsa driver ... hw:0|hw:0|1024|2|44100|0|0|hwmon|swmeter|-|32bit control device hw:0 configuring for 44100Hz, period = 1024 frames, buffer = 2 periods Couldn't open hw:0 for 32bit samples trying 24bit instead Couldn't open hw:0 for 24bit samples trying 16bit instead Couldn't open hw:0 for 32bit samples trying 24bit instead Couldn't open hw:0 for 24bit samples trying 16bit instead sample rate in use (48000 Hz) does not match requested rate (44100 Hz) Noise-shaped dithering at 16 bits new buffer size 1024 registered port alsa_pcm:capture_1, offset = 4096 registered port alsa_pcm:capture_2, offset = 8192 registered port alsa_pcm:playback_1, offset = 0 registered port alsa_pcm:playback_2, offset = 0 ++ jack_rechain_graph(): client alsa_pcm: internal client, execution_order=0. -- jack_rechain_graph() 23755 waiting for signals load = 0.0375 max usecs: 16.000, spare = 21317.000 **** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 0.022 msecs **** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 0.021 msecs **** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 0.032 msecs **** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 0.018 msecs and this message goes on until i stop jackd. If I try to use XMMS I receive the error as my soundcard is not configured and if i run ardour i hear the sounds but very fragmented as if my pc couldn't play the files. With alsa everything goes well, i can use xmms and other sounds... Could you help me? Thanks a lot. Matteo Giaccone
