Thanks for the replies.
Yes, that was exactly the problem.
I put 
127.0.0.1       lounger.tydrwg.org
into /etc/hosts and it all works perfectly.
Now to spend some time scaring the cat with my Rick Wakemen impressions
on Whysynth.
