Actually Jono Bacon is not only an editor,
but a Gnome developer, too. 
As far as I understand he points out weaknesses
in "usability" and "integration", his favourite
pet project "Utopia" (HAL, D-Bus ..) is supposed
to solve. His way of pointing out some flaws
maybe unfortunate. But for instance taking 
HAL into account for managing audio hardware
might indeed be a promising thought.

On a related note, next month's issue of 
German language Linux Magazin (i work for)
will focus on professional audio in a more
euphemistic way :)
