That's exactly my point. When I bought the Oxygen it was the only
device of that size and with knobs available. For quite some time I
just used it through the midi cable. However now, that Edirol,
Evolution and some other similar devices are available I see no need
why anyone should bother with the complicated setup routine of the
Oxygen on *any* operating system. Even as a Mac or Windows user I
would not buy the Oxygen anymore because I'd be forced to carry a
driver CD around when I visit friends. It's just not the way USB
devices are supposed to be used, IMO. 

It seems M-Audio also sees it this way now, because several of their
newer devices like the Trigger Finger don't need any firmware, they
work plug and play with the standard drivers.
