Hi Rob,

You should first check if the module was properly loaded (/sbin/lsmod), 
then check you modules.conf file. In one of your previous mails one hdsp 
line looked dodgy :

alias snd-card-0ntitlntitled 1ntitled 1ed 1 snd-hdsp

Maybe you should run alsaconf again to start from a clean basis.
