ok it looks like what worked
zita-j2a -j nv_out -c 6 -n2 -p1024 -r 48000 -d hdmi:[CARD=]NVidia,[DEV=]1.
apparently it can work with sample rate 44.1kHz as well, but buffer size cannot deviate from 1024.
I must have tried the device before but with other buffer sizes.

At this buffer size there is an audible delay compared to other outputs, but there is not much to be done about this.

Try a larger period size. Many HDMI interfaces require 4096 (or more).
