Hi Jeremy,
just to be certain: can you verify that the kernel accepts the parameters you put into that file at all? Have you set other custom parameters that are in operation? -- It may be my inept grasp, but I have had issues with that, having placed options in the wrong file, because the default config files/systems have changed.

My apologies, if that was a really stupid question.
