Kerl,

My desktop (AMD Threadripper based) has an HDA interface, but no mixer. Instead for sound output it uses a built-in USB based sound card, which up-until last year the kernel did not recognise (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210783). Does your motherboard have a similar setup?
