Hi all. I'm hoping you can shed some light on a problem I have with a DJ controller (Vestax VCI-100MKII) that's also a soundcard. My problem is that when I connect it, it keeps disconnecting. I've tested this on two laptops, both running Ubuntu 20.04. One a bit older and newer one that only has USB-C, so on the newer one I connect the controller via a USB hub. syslog on the older laptop: Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.225155] usb 3-2: new full- speed USB device number 14 using xhci_hcd Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.373108] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=1aa1, idProduct=0220, bcdDevice= 1.00 Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.373120] usb 3-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.373123] usb 3-2: Product: VCI-100MKII DJ-Controller Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.373125] usb 3-2: Manufacturer: Vestax Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.380745] usb 3-2: current rate 48000 is different from the runtime rate 44100 Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.382717] usb 3-2: current rate 48000 is different from the runtime rate 44100 Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.386780] usbhid 3-2:1.5: can't add hid device: -71 Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.386793] usbhid: probe of 3- 2:1.5 failed with error -71 Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute kernel: [ 936.387200] usb 3-2: USB disconnect, device number 14 Nov 30 14:33:12 wintermute systemd-udevd[12281]: controlC2: /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/78-sound-card.rules:5 Failed to write ATTR{/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb3/3-2/3- 2:1.0/sound/card2/controlC2/../uevent}, ignoring: No such file or directory syslog on the newer laptop: Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.521851] usb 3-8.3: new full- speed USB device number 91 using xhci_hcd Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.704167] usb 3-8.3: New USB device found, idVendor=1aa1, idProduct=0220, bcdDevice= 1.00 Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.704171] usb 3-8.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.704172] usb 3-8.3: Product: VCI-100MKII DJ-Controller Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.704174] usb 3-8.3: Manufacturer: Vestax Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.722561] usb 3-8.3: 1:1: cannot set freq 44100 to ep 0x2 Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.725923] usb 3-8.3: 2:1: cannot set freq 44100 to ep 0x82 Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.732227] usbhid 3-8.3:1.5: can't add hid device: -32 Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.732236] usbhid: probe of 3- 8.3:1.5 failed with error -32 Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai mtp-probe: checking bus 3, device 91: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb3/3-8/3-8.3" Nov 30 15:45:00 ono-sendai mtp-probe: bus: 3, device: 91 was not an MTP device Nov 30 15:45:01 ono-sendai kernel: [107245.890782] usb 3-8.3: USB disconnect, device number 91 Nov 30 15:45:01 ono-sendai systemd-udevd[127098]: controlC7: /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/78-sound-card.rules:5 Failed to write ATTR{/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb3/3-8/3-8.3/3- 8.3:1.0/sound/card7/controlC7/../uevent}, ignoring: No such file or directory Nov 30 15:45:01 ono-sendai systemd-udevd[127098]: controlC7: Process '/usr/sbin/alsactl -E HOME=/run/alsa -E XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/alsa/runtime restore ' failed with exit code 99. >From this it seems that the common problem in the output is the "can't add hid device". Any idea on what is going wrong? I'm coming up empty with my google searches. :-( Cheers /Daniel _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.linuxaudio.org/listinfo/linux-audio-user
