The problem with any transport that is just a stream of bytes is that it complicates the OSC decoder. You have to feed it byte by byte, and it has to remember its state until it gets the next byte if the packet is not yet complete. Of course if there are pauses between packets you could be lucky and actually get complete packets from a TCP socket each time you read it with a timeout. But that's inherently fragile and you can't rely on it.
