See my very short argumentation at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Talk:Professional_audio Discussing the Wiki page should be done there. Please care about the details in the context. I don't claim that it is impossible, I only point out that on most computers those are not common latencies when doing advanced audio/MIDI productions, especially if you take into account, that the Wiki about "Professional audio" recommends to use 3 periods/buffer for onboard audio. We should bring into line the content of the Wiki with it's title. Low latency is even not necessarily a target of professional audio. For some live tasks, as well as for using the Linux computer as a stomp box it is. For professional hard disc recording OTOH it's completely irrelevant as long as you aren't doing software monitoring with your onboard audio for "Professional audio". However, this is a completely unimportant point. If you read the discussion section I opened or just the Wiki, you would notice this and you could see that I made a few valid points or at least ask for clarification. I didn't removed it from the Wiki, I only removed one completely irrelevant hint and provisorily added a short, incomplete statement about MIDI jitter and a section for mailing lists, just adding the most important list, this one. Regards, Ralf -- "Michael" described Floyd as "an idiot savant", and added, "Give him any two numbers, and he can multiply them in his head, just like that." Homer, testing Floyd, said, "Five times nine", and Floyd instantly responded "Forty-five", which impressed Homer. _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.linuxaudio.org/listinfo/linux-audio-user
