Yes, there's something clunky with it.  It would be nice for starters
if everything was inside one window, like all (commercially available
on Linux) synths. It feels much better than tracking different windows.

I like the multiple windows. It's a very Linux way of doing things. I hate trying to crowd everything into one window where I can't see two different windows of the UI at the same time.

FLTK is certainly useful.  For projects and such.  For a wide audience
where usability is important, not so sure.  It certainly has a
in-the-lab-doing-stuff feeling/aura.

There is one UI out there that could be nice for zyn/yoshimi.  It is
already used for audio applications, so people are getting familiar
with it.  And it looks nice with friendly tones,  like a cow: the Calf
plugins user interface.

Haven't seen the Calf plugin UI.
