Christopher made some very nice points. I will add that going through presets should be a smooth process. Opening a file browser for each new preset is just plain tedious.

Why code for this when the file system itself can organize the
patches. That is, if Zynaddsubfx uses only files for the patches and
does not have any embedded right in the software. If they're only
files, then the patch browser becomes a plain file directory browser.
