Assumed you're using the packages provided by your distro, IIUC "Mint",
then you can see how it will be configured here:

https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/ardour -> https://tracker.debian.org/media/packages/a/ardour/rules-1%3A4.7~dfsg-1

However, you could use the distro's source package, add

  --with-backends=jack,alsa,dummy \

to the rules file and build a package.
