my office uses Ubuntu, and I am willing to guess that mileage must vary. that daily experience has me firmly against investing my professional life in Ubuntu if I can help it.
the rest are not relevant to how I intend using this box.

Regarding the speech synth you should consider to get information from
blind Linux users. There are not that many visible impaired Linux users
subscribed to this list.
