I have no such problems at all with my UA-25 usb interface, it is more
stable than my PCI HDSP card in fact, so ymmv.

Ah! I had that and had to look into usb autosuspend / laptop-mode-tools
which drove me crazy losing my mouse and keyboard sometimes.
