ABC is particularly dear to me.  Its use can become a bit arcane for
specialised tasks but thanks to abcm2ps getting from zero to a basic
score that's easy to read and edit is a breeze.

I'm too old-school. I can't imagine "writing music" by editing a text file anymore than I could return to "drawing pictures" by editing Postscript code (which I did at one time a long while ago).

Denemo's pretty good, I just find Rosegarden more comprehensive when it comes to making music.
