But you want to do it with multiple inputs at one time which is not 
actually that simple.

There are a couple of OSS aware apps that do this already. Ecasound is 
probably the most well known and SLAB is supposed to do it too although 
its never worked for me. I have also heard it's possible in snd but that 
it is not easy.

Probably best is to get the code for these apps and read it thoroughly.

BTW. What is your app and maybe you could post a link which might give 
people some more motivation to think about what you want to achieve.
