Isa's just a massive pain and you need very exact specs regarding the card and where it's at... I don't know why functionality would be diminished {then again... I'm not really an expert on newer linux sound stuff. {old for that matter}} I did get my pas16 to install in about 5 minutes on my 486/25 several years ago. OSS setup is really simple for ISA. As far as I know there's nothing directx-like about linux.
