Enforcing C2,C3... states?

Dear ACPI List,

Desktop Boards usually don't seem to activate power management as
one can see in /proc/acpi/processor/CPU?/power even if they use a
Laptop CPU which would be able to use this states.

Would it be possible to enforce the Use of C2,C3... Power states on
those kind of machines by means of a modified dsdt?

if so, what would I need to add to the ACPI Bios to achieve this?
